Shoes Everyone Should Have #1: Dr Marten Victorian Flower Boots (REVIEW AND HOW TO STYLE)

So of course my first post was going to feature shoes! These are Dr Marten Victorian Flower boots, which I'd been craving for at least a year and finally got for Christmas. I know these were and still are quite popular and I can see why; they're gorgeous and super comfortable, not to mention they are disgustingly stylish. So after wearing these a few times, I decided to share my opinion because I know some people might be hesitant on getting them because of the price and out-there design. This is going to be a review (on quality, material, etc.) and after I'll post some ideas on how you can style this shoes.

REVIEW
material: unlike the most emblematic dr. martens, these are made of canvas, not leather. this material is pretty thick and hard but not very textured. it's not shimmery, which is of course good because with the print it would be too much. quality-wise, this material is pretty sturdy and can be cleaned with a damp cloth, but on the downside these can be scuffed. to help prevent damage to the canvas, just use clear shoe wax once a month or as required depending on how much you use them.

comfort: because of the sturdiness of both the canvas and the soles, it takes a little while for these shoes to break in. during the first few days it is important to wear thick socks to avoid blisters. it took me about two weeks to start feeling the shoes give way, but they weren't unbearable during this time. other than this, they are extremly comfortable, just because of the way they are built. they are meant to be worn with thick socks, so they can get warm, but you can were these all day and your feet won't hurt at all.

quality: as i said, dr. martens is a very respectable brand, so the quality should be the least of your concerns. all the materials are of noticeably good quality, and you can just tell they are well-made. the sole and the printed canvas are sewed together as well as glued, wich ensures durability, and the sole is air-cushioned and provides just enough toughness to make me feel comfortable wearing them over all kinds of floors and grounds.

My pair came with two pairs of laces: the one you see in the picture, plain black, and a pair of ADORABLE pink ribbons, which I think is such a cute little detail. I'll for sure be trying those out soon. These are the pink ribbon laces:

HOW TO STYLE
As to how to syle the victorian flower Dr. Marten boots, I have to admit I did struggle with this a little bit at first. However, I quickly realized it's all about being creative, original, and fearless. So here are a few ideas.

So what I think is most important to keep in mind when styling these shoes is that they need to look harmonious. I recommened neutral colors and earth tones, keeping the boots as the main focus. However, it is also important to remember attitude and style, which is why I threw in that plaid shirt. Mixing prints is so cute and will take your outfit to another level. This also applies to the polka dot tights. Finally, the accesories are so important. A cute chunky bracelet in gold, or a casual beanie can make you look relaxed yet cool.

Bottom line is to have fun. The best part about this boots are their potential. You pair them with a dress to add a quirky detail to your outfit, or wear them with sweats for that casual, sleazy look that somehow manages to look cool. You can wear jeans and a simple top for day to day life or leggings and a jacket for a more polished look. Just remember to make them work for what you feel beautiful and comfortable in.
