Favorite Songs of the Month: November

Artists tend to have highlights and peaks in their career depending on the public's reaction to their releases. However, not always are the top 100 songs the ones worth listening to. There is a huge amount of unexplored and undiscovered artists whose talent ranges from an amazing ability to compose as well as to perform masterpieces. My muscial tendency varies between genres, even though I admit I do listen to popular songs simply because I hear them constantly on the radio. So, I guess another common said thing is that people listen to songs only because they are popular, but just because they are popular doesn't mean they are bad. Whenever I get the chance to, I explore other artist and genres. I have to say, I am not embarrassed but proud of the amount of hours I spend daily on YouTube, searching for new sounds and finding new interesting videos.
Anyways, I decided to make up a list of songs that I have enjoyed throughout the month of November. (They are in no particular order of preference and they did not all come out this year as you shall discover.)

1. Love Me Again & Cheating - John Newman
I absolutely love these two songs by John Newman and can honestly not stop replaying them. The unique sound they have and the mix of the drums with the trumpet make you want to dance uncontrollably! Besides his sweet clear voice just goes perfect with the instruments and if you haven't seen videos of him in live performance, trust me that you will not be disappointed.

2. Ships in the Nights - Mat Keanery
To be honest with you, the first time I heard this song I could swear it was a song by Coldplay (I am a huge fan), but as to my discovery, it wasn't. Independent of this, I loved the song especially because of the chorus.

3. Talk Dirty & Marry Me - Jason Derulo
These two songs, despite having distinctly different sounds and rhythms, are both extremely pleasing to hear. I do however tend to like Talk Dirty more because of  the "dancy" rhythm and because there is a amazing choreography by Jasmin Meakin on YouTube that I have begun to learn.

4. Beneath Your Beautiful - Emeli Sande and Labrinth
Despite the fact that this song came out in 2012, I only began to listen to it frequently this year. In addition, the melody is so addicting that it is almost impossible not to sing along whenever played.

5. Royals & Team - Lorde
Okay, so here is the typical song that appears everywhere, but..who cares? They are amazing songs! I just love her voice and the fact that the things she talks about are so real.

6. Bang Bang, A Little Party Never Killed Nobody & Over The Love - The Great Gatsby Soundtrack
When I watched the Great Gatsby movie I could honestly not be more shocked with the quality of the image and the music. I was speechless. I absolutely loved how they mixed something that was supposed to simulate a past time with new inspiring sounds that brought them into the modern days. I especially enjoyed it because I love old fashion music such as jazz. The rhythm is perfect to show off and imitate some funky moves!

7. Rough Waters - Travie McCoy

8. What Now - Rihanna
As always Rihanna has been able to release an amazing song that gets everbody singing and pouring their hearts out. This song is so inspiring and I can't help screaming my lungs out whenever I hear it. If you haven't heard it yet, please do.

9.Dance The Pain Away - Benny Benassi (ft. John Legend)
This song is so unique in both its lyrics and general assemble of the song. Its irresistibly addicting!

10. Alive Paradise - Tiesto & Dyro
This remix/version of the song Alive by Krewella is absolutely amazing. I truly respect both versions of the song but this one is great, being that sometimes alternations to original songs can turn out to be quite the dissapointment.

11. Earthquake - DJ Fresh vs. Diplo

12. 3000 Miles - Emblem 3
I personally love this song because its lyric, given my interpretation, bring out the true meaning of what hard work can be to some people, being away from families and missing a normal life. Plus, their voices are so sweet and clear along with the piano and guitar melody.

13. Work B**** - Britney Spears
Looking for a perfect workout song...this is it. The beat takes your mind off the complete pain and tiredness you may be facing while exercising.

14. Love Don't Die - The Fray
The rock sensation that this song brings is so refreshing and new, especially for The Fray.

15. Waiting for Superman - Daughtry
This song just hits me because of the meaning that it can have on so many different levels.

16. Things We Lost In The Fire, Pompeii, Laura Palmer - Bastille
I don't know about you, but I am in love with Bastille. They are truly amazing and their songs have gotten a great amount of success around the globe. Good job their guys!

17. Summertime Sadness Remix- Lana Del Rey
Don't get me wrong, I worship the original Summertime Sadness song, but this remix is impressively strong and fluent as it mixes the soft melody with new hard and empowering rhythms and sounds.

18. Still Into You - Paramore
This song is a must. As many of the Paramore song I know of, they continue to bring out new songs with the same strong electric guitar and drums never reaching a point where they tire their audience.

19. Pumpin Blood - Pumpin Blood
Discover

20. Wise Man & Thinkin Bout You - Frank Ocean

21. Out Of My Head (ft. Trey Songz) - Lupe Fiasco

I really hope I was able to contribute to the expanding of your musical knowledge despite a fair quantity of the songs were released a couple years ago. As I finished the list i gradually got to realize that yes.. i tend to be a popular song fan, but nevertheless I absolutely love new songs!
Please feel the pleasure to brighten my day by simply suggesting new songs! And DONT FORGET to listen to ALL of the songs!

Music App: Songza

As a music fanatic I can say that I literally spend the whole day listening to music and am always constantly searching to get inspired by unique sounds and lyrics of different genres. My music tendency varies from pop, alternative rock, jazz, soul, country, electronic and then there are all of those songs that don't really fit any category cause i guess they are just a mix of many.
Anyways, one of my latest music discoveries has to do with an app called Songza. It is so amazing! It works in such way that it will provide you will different playlists according to moods, genres, activities and decades! For example, a playlist for working out or studying, a playlist for Frank Sinatra fans, a playlist for when your feeling funky and brand new music!
This opened me up to so many different songs that i didn't know before and allowed me to listen to specific genres at once. However I guess the default of this app would be that it doesn't allow you to replay, fast forward or rewind songs, look for a song in particular or save the songs you like. But common...when you get to listen to awesome songs it doesn't even matter. What i really like about this site is that no matter what playlist you chose, you will always be surprised with the song that plays. In addition, what is more fun than switching up your regular music once in a while? I love the music I have on my iTunes Library, but I also love to switch it out with Songza.
Some example of my favorite playlist are:

  • Today's Pop Hits
  • Today's Dance Club Hits
  • Today's Biggest Hits
  • Timbaland Presents
  • The Cole Porter Songbook
  • Soft Pop Wake- Up Call
  • For Sinatra Fans
  • Acoustic Versions of Pop Songs
  • The World of John Mayer
Make sure to check this app out! I have it on my iPod Touch and I always end up downloading songs I find on Songza to my iTunes Library! In order to access the app and listen o music you have to have wifi.

Well, fellow readers (hopefully there are at least a couple of you out there) please leave comments if you downloaded the app and tell me what you think! If you have any suggestions of songs or apps please let me know because i would absolutely LOVE it!
